Classic British Humor. The 1965 BSA Bantam used a 175 CC air cooled two stroke single cylinder motor that made 7.4 HP with a three speed transmission for a top speed (listed) of 57 MPH. A swing arm rear suspension with twin shocks and telescopic front suspension with bad brakes on both ends with 18 inch wheels completed the package.

Introduced in 1959, the 175cc D7 Bantam Super assumed the cleanly-designed corporate identity of larger models in the BSA range. The engine's nearside was now more cleanly designed, and while the gearbox remained three-speed, the D7 had a comfortable cruising speed of 55mph, reaching 60mph in favourable conditions.

This particular diminutive BSA, a 1956 D3 Bantam Major 150, is unusual in a couple of ways. Firstly, the 148cc variant, usually finished overall in Pastel Grey, was only made for four years, from 1954, so there are fewer about than the ubiquitous D1 125s, or the many later 175cc versions.
